Mission: The mission of Cypress Christian School is to equip students to engage and impact their world for Jesus Christ.
Our Purpose - To provide a thorough academic education built upon a biblical view of life. God as Creator of life and reality is the focus of a Christian education. In addition, His Word serves as the authoritative standard of truth.Statement of Faith - We believe:
- That the Bible is God's inerrant Word in the original manuscripts and the only authority for doctrine and practice.
- In the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit
- That salvation is a free gift, paid for by the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ for all who trust Him as their Savior
- In John 14:6, which states: "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.'"
- That Jesus Christ is the one and only way to the Father and, thereby, to eternal life
- In the literal resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and in the same resurrection to eternal life for all who are saved, while the unsaved will spend eternity in hell
- In the literal return of Jesus Christ
- Head of School: Mr. Stephen J. Novotny, J.D.
- Elementary School Principal: Mrs. Donna Stumbaugh
- Secondary School Principal: Dr. Glenn Holzman, M.Ed., Ph.D.

Elementary (K-5 Information)
Secondary (6-12 Information)
Curriculum
Carefully selected curriculum academically challenges elementary, middle school and high school students and upholds the Christian standards we seek to develop. Scriptural truths are taught in daily Bible classes and are woven into the fabric of each academic discipline in a very practical, life changing way.
CCS English and history programs focus on an intensive study of the great writings, people, events, works, and ideas that have impacted civilization. Coordination of curriculum among departments is stressed, providing the student with reinforcement of their studies. Science and math offer advanced track beginning with the freshman year. Honors level courses are available. Dual credit is available for juniors and seniors who test into the class.
Technology is a top priority
at CCS with our goal to remain at the forefront of all that is new and
improved in the world of technology. K-12 students participate in
computer classes held in the elementary or secondary computer labs.
Grading Scale: The following grading scale is used throughout the school:
Equivalent Grade Meaning
90-100 A Far exceeds minimum standards
80-89 B Exceeds minimum standards
75-79 C Meets minimum standards
70-74 D Failure to meet some minimum
standards
0-69 F Failure to meet minimum standards
*Numerical grade point averages are used to determine ranking.
Class Rank
Class rank is determined from the average of all the grades (excluding electives) earned at CCS in grades 9-12. Students must attend four (4) full semesters at CCS (junior/senior years) to be ranked. Class rank is reported to colleges on the student's transcript. Ranking is reported in quartiles. Ranking includes dual credit, honors, and special needs students in the 9-12th grades.
- 1st Quartile - GPA of 90.000-100.000
- 2nd Quartile - GPA of 85.000-89.999
- 3rd Quartile - GPA of 80.000-84.999
- 4th Quartile - GPA of 79.999 and below
Standardized Testing
Achievement
tests are administered each spring to students in K-10th grade. The
school participates in the ACSI testing program which employs the
Stanford Achievement Test. The tests are sent to a testing agency and
CCS receives narrative reports that are distributed to the parents.
These reports compare our students with national norms and norms
developed for ACSI schools.
College Entrance Exams
PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test)
- The PSAT is mandatory for sophomores and juniors each year as
preliminary training for the SAT. The PSAT (administered during the
junior year) is also used to select students for National Merit
Scholarships. Thus, it is not only a helpful practice, but for the
gifted student who does well, it can be a means of obtaining
recognition for college scholarships. Please see the College Corner of this site for more information.
Huff Learning Center
Participation in the Huff Learning Center involves additional costs, but results in these benefits:
- Academic Skill Building Program
- Discovery Program (NILD)
- Neuhaus Programs
Weekly chapel services allow students and faculty members to experience worship, praise, instruction and fellowship. Bible curriculum includes weekly scripture memory.
Extracurricular Opportunities
K-12 students are offered many opportunities to learn outside the classroom. Some of those include:
- Academic, Fine Arts, and Athletic Events and Competitions
- Student Council
- Honor Society
- After-school Clubs
The purpose of the dress code is to clarify a standard of appearance which will encourage our students to bring glory to God (I Corinthians 10:31) in an atmosphere free from distraction. Students are required to purchase all uniform pieces (shirts, blouses, pants, shorts, jumpers, skirts, etc.) through Parker School Uniform Company or Lands' End School Uniforms. Students may wear blue jeans and a Christian T-shirt (K-5) or CCS Spirit Wear (K-12) on Fridays.
Student Conduct
A high standard of conduct is required of each student at CCS for the purpose of maintaining order and building Christ-like character. In grades K-5, the color system of discipline is enforced; students stay on 'green' until receiving a behavior warning which moves them to 'yellow'. Additional infractions lead to a color change to 'red' which involves a visit to the principal's office. In grades 6-12, disciplinary reports are issued. CCS does not practice corporal punishment.
Facilities
Students benefit from a wide-range of facilities including: two libraries; two art rooms; two music/choir rooms; drama room with stage; Huff Learning Center; college corner equipped with computer access for college and scholarship search; two fully-equipped science labs; playground and recess areas; professionally maintained fields for baseball, softball, football, soccer, track and field activities and P.E. classes; gymnasium with full-size basketball and volleyball courts; fully-equipped weight room for student athletes; prayer garden for worship and prayer
Lunches
Students at CCS may bring lunches or purchase a hot lunch at school. A microwave is available for secondary students.
Carpool
CCS publishes a list of families (with their permission) sorted by subdivision for the purpose of helping parents establish carpools with other families. CCS does not offer a before or after-school program.
Parent Involvement
The Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) is the primary vehicle for parent involvement at Cypress Christian School.
Communication
CCS strives to keep parents and students informed at all levels.
- E-mail, E-letters, and the school website are used to communicate to parents and students. Information about the current school year as well as policies and procedures can be found on the school website.
