Kindergarten Round-Up
Each year, CCS hosts an orientation/open house for parents of children approaching Kindergarten. This program offers an overview of curriculum, uniforms, and the testing and admissions process. Please call the Admissions Office at 281-469-7745 for more information about this informative meeting.

Bible
This study will teach children about God through the lives of major characters throughout the Bible. Activities are used to help children comprehend and apply Bible truths. Students memorize scripture and learn godly character traits each week.

Reading, Writing, and Phonics
CCS teachers pursue a phonics approach to reading because we believe that the rules of phonics will provide children with the basic tools for decoding words. CCS provides an individualized reading program. Beginning in November, students meet once a week with a teacher from the Learning Center. This provides an individualized program that allows students to move at their own pace.

Kindergarten is a time of preparation for reading and writing. The basic elements of phonics are developed and letter-sound associations are emphasized. Children also grow in their composition skills and creative writing through the use of their own journal.

They are exposed to (1) ordinal concepts, (2) measurements, (3) geometrical and spatial relationships, (4) fractional concepts, and (5) graphing. Children learn to tell time and are introduced to the skill of counting money. Students learn single digit addition while building these concepts. Computer-assisted instruction is provided with phonics and math software.
