College Planning Calendar



Junior Year

  1. Take PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) - Qualification for National Merit Scholarship.

  2. Attend College Fairs.

  3. Begin to narrow choices.

  4. Visit specialized college programs for high school students.

  5. Take the SAT/ACT in the spring.

  6. Spend a "day-on-the-job."

  7. Visit specific colleges.

  8. Continue to collect college/career materials.

  9. Pursue scholarship opportunities.

  10. Get organized with a filing system for:
  • Memos from guidance office
  • Colleges being considered
  • Finances/scholarships
  • Career Information

Senior Year
  1. Submit applications to colleges in the fall.

  2. Take SAT or ACT, if not taken already.

  3. Obtain necessary financial aid forms and submit them after January 1.

  4. Attend College Fairs.

  5. Attend selected college programs.

  6. Submit scholarship applications.
