Applying to College

"A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps."  Proverbs 16:9

We are praying God’s will to be fulfilled in the lives of our seniors.  We celebrate as they move forward in the process of finishing their high school years at CCS.  As they approach a new season of life, may our seniors trust God with the plans they have as they allow God to direct their steps.  Then, they will have success.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."  Proverbs 16:3

1.       Meet with your college guidance counselor during the spring of your junior year.

2.       Research and select five to six schools that you would like to attend.

3.       Request from each of these colleges its admission application, financial aid and scholarship information, housing information, and a general catalog.

4.       Review with your parents your school choices and the financial requirements of each.  Determine how much you and your family will have for funding.

5.       Prepare a student profile including extracurricular activities, awards, employment, etc.

6.       Read the admissions procedures and requirements in each packet you receive, noting the deadlines and recommendation requirements (if any).

7.       Make copies of the applications before you begin to complete them.  Complete the copy first.

8.       Complete and sign the student portions of the forms for the secondary school report and teacher recommendation sheets before you give those to the counselor and/or teacher.

  • Be neat; have someone proofread the application.
  • You must request from ACT or College Board official ACT and SAT scores to be sent to colleges
